Digital Media and Web Technology, A.A.S.

Designed for the student who wishes to pursue a career or to continue studies in digital media and web development, this program teaches technologies involved in designing and developing user interfaces, websites, and web applications as well as mobile and web server programming. Students may focus their studies on user interface development, web development, or mobile development or take courses from some or all of the focus areas. The curriculum prepares students for a variety of entry and midlevel positions as user-interface developers, web developers, web designers, digital media, and multimedia specialists.

Focus

User Interface Design

Designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to prepare them for employment as front-end web designers and developers, this concentration focuses on graphic design principles for the web, image manipulation and editing and the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as the operation and administrion of content management systems.

Web Development

This program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to design, develop and administer dynamic websites and web applications using middleware languages to connect websites with server-based database management systems. Core web development skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and content management systems are extensively covered as well.

Mobile Development

One of the fastest growing and most fluid programming disciplines, the mobile development program prepares students for the techincal and programming aspects of designing, building and administering mobile applications and games. Core web development skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and content management systems are covered extensively.

About

Professor Melissa Lizmi has been teaching full-time at Montgomery College since August of 2000. Her areas of expertise include database design and implementation, web application development and web programming. In 2009, Professor Lizmi was honored to receive the college-wide Outstanding Facultyaward.
